Away in a Manger

Christmas, for us, held a little disappointment this year. I had a stomach bug and could not enjoy the weekend or the time Justin had off from work. But my sweet husband jumped right in and took care of the girls while I was...well, you know. I was pretty much quarantined to my bedroom, and as lonely as it was, I am thankful that nobody else got sick. Christmas dinner consisted of a warmed-up turkey breast, some steamed green beans, and a baked sweet potato. Not what I had planned, but it worked. It was my first real meal in almost three days. Nonetheless, we survived and the girls enjoyed playing with their new things and singing songs. The funniest and most endearing thing this year has been Ellie's fascination with the story of Christ's birth. She sings Away in a Manger several times a day (still singing 2 weeks post-Christmas) and playing "Baby Jesus Lying In The Manger." She tells us the story with great excitement and awe. It is precious. Her favorite toy was actually Anne's gift, a nativity play set, complete with a stable, shepherds, animals, angels, and the holy family. She was in her first Christmas program at school this year (sniff, sniff), and she played an angel, along with all of the other 2-year-olds. She was the only one munching on a pretzel rod during the program. That's my Ellie. I am really enjoying this sweet age. Anne is growing up too -- just toddling around, and loving her daddy! Anyway, I will stop rambling and get to the pictures. Enjoy!
